American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil is a U.S. based charity that was created to promote collaborative initiatives to support societal development in Brazil through educational, vocational and research projects, with a focus on healthcare and education.
Based in Miami, American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil will direct its resources to supporting societal development in Brazil through healthcare projects focused on research, innovation, and professional and academic training.
History
American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil was established in 2019. It began operating in 2020 with the goal of raising funds in the U.S., particularly in cities where the Jewish community has a strong presence, such as Miami and New York. Such fundraising efforts will aid American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil in carrying out and raising awareness for its charitable mission. Specifically, the funds raised will be directed towards initiatives supporting societal development in Brazil through projects focused on research, innovation, and professional and academic training.
American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil was designed to share a unified charitable mission with Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein (or “SBIBAE”), an organization whose history of contributing to health development began in Brazil in the 1950s. As a result, American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil and SBIBAE plan to work together to enhance the quality of healthcare and education in Brazil. American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil plans to provide financial assistance principally to SBIBAE.
SBIBAE, based in São Paulo, is a leader in health care, offering state-of-the-art treatment and humanized care in both the private and public sectors (the latter of which is provided through agreements and management contracts and carries out the major part of SBIBAE’s social responsibility programs and educational and research activities).
Mission
The mission of American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil is to find historically Jewish institutions providing health care and education in Brazil that are in need of support, provide them with additional funding, and thereby improve and increase the number of individuals they serve and the quality of the services they provide. Through its work, American Friends of Jewish Hospitals and Education Centers of Brazil hopes to inform the public in the United States of America and Brazil of the role that Jewish institutions have played historically in providing quality health care and education, and thereby increase awareness of and respect for Jewish philanthropy.
